We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative with good administrative skills to join our scrap metal operations team. This role combines physical yard work with office-based responsibilities, requiring someone who is organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Role:
- Receive, inspect, and sort incoming scrap metal materials
- Manage transport (organise incoming & outgoing loads)
- Source, price & purchase parts/materials
- Operate machinery such as forklifts, weighbridges, and loading equipment
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Complete weighbridge tickets and maintain transaction records
- Handle basic data entry, filing, and document management
- Assist with customer queries in person and over the phone
- Other adhoc duties
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred
- Basic administrative or data entry experience
- Basic IT proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar systems)
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
