An established and highly regarded construction contractor based in Newry is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The company delivers high-quality projects across multiple sectors throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland and continues to secure a strong pipeline of work. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of local projects and play a key role in cost management, profitability, and client satisfaction.
The Role
- Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the full commercial lifecycle of projects, from tender stage through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost estimation and tender preparation
- Contract administration across live projects
- Cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Procurement and management of subcontractors
- Valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Risk management and value engineering
- Commercial negotiation and dispute resolution
- Supporting project teams to ensure commercial best practice
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
- Chartered status (RICS or CIOB) desirable but not essential
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
- Strong knowledge of construction economics and cost management
- Experience working with standard forms of contract, including JCT and NEC
- Proven experience managing the tender process
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and communication abilities
- Full UK driving licence
