We are working with a forward-thinking engineering company, seeking a Design/Project Engineer to support ongoing innovation and development across a diverse product range operating at the intersection of mechanical and electrical systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to participate in the full product lifecycle from concept and design to testing, prototyping, and final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical and/or electrical systems using CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD essential).
- Manage projects from concept through to completion, including prototyping and testing phases.
- Produce and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and documentation.
- Develop and support embedded systems that integrate mechanical, electrical, and programming components.
- Assist with fault finding, diagnostics, and ongoing system improvements.
- Configure and select geared motors and other drive/automation components.
- Support installation, commissioning, and technical handover processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Experience in prototype development and testing
- Knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with mechanical drives, PLCs, conveyors, robotics, and control systems
- Understanding of DC, single-phase, and 3-phase motor control systems
- Ability to carry out fault diagnosis and practical repairs
- Project management or coordination experience
