The Role
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will take on a key leadership role within the home, ensuring residents receive safe, respectful, and person-centred care at all times. You will work closely with management, supervise care staff, and lead by example in delivering best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Care Delivery
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care tailored to individual resident needs
- Support the admission and integration of new residents, ensuring a positive transition
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional wellbeing
- Administer medication safely in line with policies and procedures
- Leadership & Team Support
- Lead, motivate, and support care staff to maintain excellent standards
- Assist with the induction, mentoring, and supervision of team members
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment
- Ensure all care tasks and documentation are completed accurately
- Communication
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, families, and colleagues
- Maintain clear and compliant records in line with information governance standards
- Report incidents, accidents, or safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Represent the service professionally to visitors and external stakeholders
- Health & Safety
- Adhere to all health & safety, infection control, and safeguarding procedures
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors
Essential Criteria
- QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
- Minimum of 2 years experience within a care setting
- Strong knowledge of care standards and relevant legislation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to lead, prioritise, and work effectively under pressure
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role
- Medication administration training
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
