About the Role

As a Mental Health Charge Nurse, you will provide clinical and shift leadership, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care. You will act as a role model for staff, support junior nurses, and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring safe staffing and high-quality care delivery
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and support staff
  • Deliver and oversee safe, effective nursing care
  • Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans
  • Administer and oversee medication management and clinical monitoring
  • Act as a key point of contact for families and external professionals
  • Support junior staff development and promote best practice
  • Promote therapeutic engagement and recovery-focused activities
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and continuous improvement

Who We're Looking For

  • A registered Mental Health Nurse with active NMC registration
  • Previous experience in a senior, charge, or leadership role (or readiness to step up)
