About the Role
As a Mental Health Charge Nurse, you will provide clinical and shift leadership, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care. You will act as a role model for staff, support junior nurses, and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring safe staffing and high-quality care delivery
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing and support staff
- Deliver and oversee safe, effective nursing care
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans
- Administer and oversee medication management and clinical monitoring
- Act as a key point of contact for families and external professionals
- Support junior staff development and promote best practice
- Promote therapeutic engagement and recovery-focused activities
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and continuous improvement
Who We're Looking For
- A registered Mental Health Nurse with active NMC registration
- Previous experience in a senior, charge, or leadership role (or readiness to step up)
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- A compassionate, confident approach to managing complex mental health needs
