The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key commercial role within the business, working closely with operational teams to manage all aspects of cost control, tendering, and contract management from pre- to post-contract stages. This is a varied role requiring strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Travel may be required as part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare take-offs and assist with tender submissions
- Appoint and manage subcontractors under agreed conditions
- Coordinate and oversee material procurement
- Measure and report project variances
- Prepare and settle interim valuations and claims
- Produce bills of quantities and variation documentation
- Conduct cost investigations and financial reporting
- Monitor project cash flow and provide valuation data for accounts
- Advise management on contractual and commercial matters
- Manage project final accounts and ensure accurate record keeping
Essential Criteria
- Recent and relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction or fit-out
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of JCT contracts
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, adaptable approach
- Full driving licence and access to transport
Desirable
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- Experience preparing PQQs, bids, and tender submissions
- Familiarity with e-tendering platforms
