We are seeking an experienced Security Consultant to support our growing Application Security business across the United Kingdom and EMEA. In this role, you will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services teams to engage existing and prospective customers, understand their security challenges, and position and deliver solutions and consulting services that accelerate secure software development.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in application security, security consulting, and presale engagements, with expertise in SAST, SCA and related DevSecOps security tooling. You will lead technical and strategic discovery conversations, qualify opportunities, demonstrate business value, and help customers adopt security solutions that improve risk posture and development productivity.
Presale professionals act as the bridge between customer requirements and technical solutions, helping shape proposals, expansions, and solution strategies during the sales and customer journey process.
What You’ll Do
- Understand the breadth and depth of Black Duck Solutions: recognize and articulate the unique technical capabilities of our solutions and understand the business impact they deliver.
- Positioning Services: Align service capabilities to customer needs, including strategic offerings (BSIMM) and related services to help fuel solution adoption and partnership growth.
- Conduct analysis and modeling: perform quantitative analysis to benchmark capabilities effectively and educate customers on the tangible benefits delivered from our solutions.
- Lead Discovery Workshops: Conduct insightful interviews with professionals from IT, Engineering, Legal, Product and Executive Sponsors to capture success criteria.
- Develop and Deliver Engaging Presentations: Create and present compelling narratives to senior‑level audiences, including C‑Level and board‑level executives.
- Lead Multiple Engagements: manage several customer engagements simultaneously from start to finish while bringing together various departments including Product, Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Services and Customer Success.
- Drive Strategic Vision: mature the Value Engineering practice by contributing to thought leadership, innovative frameworks, and tools that help internal teams and customers succeed.
- Identify Strategic Opportunities: discover opportunities for internal teams to enhance value across the entire Black Duck Solution portfolio.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in pre-sale, security consulting, or sales engineering roles supporting cybersecurity or application security products.
- Hands‑on knowledge of Application Security Testing technologies, including but not limited to: Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Software Composition Analysis (SCA), DevSecOps security tooling.
- Ability to lead customer discovery, qualification, and technical strategy conversations at C‑level.
- Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles and influencing technical buying decisions.
- Strong ability to position and upsell professional services or consulting engagements.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and software supply chain risk.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage developers, security leaders, and executives.
Nice to have
- Experience managing large multi‑business unit programs and developing KPIs.
- Working knowledge of a data science programming language (i.e., Python, R, SQL) is highly desirable.
- Experience working with Cybersecurity Frameworks i.e., CSF, BSIMM, NIST, HITRUST or other specific industry models a plus.
