We are looking for someone who is dynamic, personable, creative and empathetic to deliver interventions that support and empower young people to make positive changes in their lives. Experience of managing an active caseload is essential, together with a sound understanding of the complex challenges, barriers and lived experiences that can influence young people’s behaviour, wellbeing, safety and outcomes.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity available within our Children and Families Team.
The Young Women’s Empowerment Advocate will deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based support to girls and young women across Sandwell. Through individual interventions, group work and multi‑agency partnership working, the postholder will support young women to build confidence, improve wellbeing, develop healthy relationships, strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability to exploitation and other forms of harm.
The role will support young women who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, emotional wellbeing concerns, substance misuse vulnerabilities, criminal exploitation, sexual exploitation, challenging behaviours or involvement with the criminal justice system.
The Young Women’s Empowerment Advocate will deliver the Be You intervention programme within schools, community settings and other agreed locations, developing trusted relationships with young women and supporting them to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
Working closely with schools, children’s Services, youth justice services, police, health services and voluntary sector partners, the postholder will help ensure young women receive effective, coordinated support that places their voice, lived experience and individual strengths at the centre of all intervention.
The role will also contribute to the delivery of Bloom, the Be You group programme delivered in partnership with DECCA and Barnardo’s, supporting young women to improve emotional wellbeing, self‑esteem, personal safety and future aspirations.
Please note, for this role, an enhanced DBS check will be required.
