Hours: 37.5 hours per week, between 8.00am - 6.00pm

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Black Country Living Museum is seeking an experienced Collections Coordinator to join our busy Collections team. In this hands-on role, you'll help care for and bring our collection to life by cataloguing objects, supporting exhibitions, and uncovering new stories along the way. Working with colleagues, volunteers and partners, you'll play a key part in keeping the collections organised, accessible and engaging for all.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing collections through cataloguing, auditing, and tracking movement.
  • Developing object handling/storage practices and the Museum's collecting policy.
  • Researching, acquiring, and installing items/collections in existing and new buildings.
  • Contributing to the development of the Museums collections review project.
  • Supporting disposals, returns, deliveries (including exhibition deliveries & installation), and loans.
  • Conducting research for collection development, programmes, and engagement.
  • Supervising volunteers, interns, placement students, and Collections Assistants.
  • Overseeing research visitors/groups, collecting data relating to objects and users, and addressing enquiries respectfully.
  • Assisting with the development and review of emergency planning procedures.

  • A willingness to undertake manual handling of our collections.
