Our client is currently looking for a Mobile Commercial Vehicle Electrical/ Utility Engineer to join their highly skilled and knowledgeable Utility Engineering team.
Working as part of a nationwide mobile engineering team, you will attend customer sites to carry out planned maintenance, compliance inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs and testing on a wide range of commercial vehicles and associated electrical equipment.
You'll receive a fully equipped company vehicle, specialist tooling and ongoing training, allowing you to develop your technical knowledge while building a long-term career with one of the UK's leading commercial vehicle service providers.
We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and can work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
Experience within automotive electrical systems is advantageous, but candidates with transferable electrical experience will also be considered.
Job type: Full time, Permanent
Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience) basic plus door to door paid travel on-top.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on commercial vehicle electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic techniques.
- Complete planned compliance inspections on commercial vehicles and associated electrical equipment.
- Carry out electrical PAT testing in line with current regulations and company procedures.
- Inspect, test and maintain DC and AC electrical systems, ensuring equipment meets the required safety and operational standards.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Deliver high-quality work within agreed timescales while following company procedures and manufacturer standards.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection documentation.
- Represent the business professionally when working at customer sites, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure the work area remains safe throughout each task, using the correct PPE and following safe working practices.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working on commercial vehicle electrical systems or automotive based electrical experience is an advantage.
- Good understanding of DC and AC electrical systems fitted to commercial vehicles.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical faults.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- PAT Testing certification is desirable, training can be provided.
- Good IT skills and the ability to complete digital job reports.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicating with customers in a professional manner.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Full UK driving licence.
