Black Cat Recruitment are currently working in partnership with the CK Quality Group in Coventry on a large recruitment campaign for Europe’s leading automotive lighting manufacturer for the prestige & super-car market based near Milton Keynes. Due to significant new investment in personnel, processes and plant throughout 2020, there are opportunities for an experienced, driven and committed Mechanically-biased Maintenance Engineer to join them on Permanent contracts.

Working Hours Available:

  • AM Shift = 7.00am - 3.00pm
  • PM Shift = 3.00pm - 11.00pm
  • Night Shift = 11.00pm - 7.00am
  • Weekend Shift (Days) = 7.00am - 7.00pm
  • Weekend Shift (Nights) = 7.00pm - 7.00am

Job Function: To provide hands-on, Mechanical assistance in the maintenance, installation, commissioning, fault finding and decommissioning of plant and equipment. Some Electrical aspects of the job may also be tasked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reactive technical assistance and support in the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and associated plant.
  • Undertake robust plant malfunction repairs.
  • Carry out fault-finding and refurbishments as necessary.
  • Undertake Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules as required.
  • Develop and refine operating procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize waste (scrap, re-work and unplanned inspection).
  • Train operators in the safe operation of equipment and promote up-skilling.
  • Develop and maintain process and plant efficiency and utilization measures to use as a tool for continuous improvement.
  • Continuously strive to eliminate and reduce waste of any kind within the manufacturing process, scrap, re-work and consumables.
  • Develop and implement planned maintenance of jigs, fixtures, plant and other equipment to minimise efficiency losses to production whilst carefully controlling costs.
  • Assist in the integration of new plant and equipment into the production environment.
  • Set and strive to improve housekeeping standards through the use of the 5S approach.

Experience & Qualifications Required:

  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing or relevant Industrial environment is essential.
  • City & Guilds or similar Mechanical maintenance qualification would be ideal.
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced reactive environment is essential.
  • Experience of working with plastic moulding machinery, robots, laser welders, coating machinery etc. would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to manage projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrable track record of problem solving.
  • Able to use own initiative to effectively manage and prioritise workload.
  • Able to work inclusively in a team environment.
