The company is entering an exciting expansion phase, growing its presence across Manchester, Edinburgh, and London, and building a team that will define the future of agriculture, renewable energy and carbon removal.

Location: Hybrid role. Open to candidates based in Manchester, Edinburgh, or London, with regular in-person time as needed in Greater Manchester.

About The Role

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role for someone who enjoys turning complex ideas into real-world projects. As Project Manager – Engineering & Deployment, you will lead the successful delivery of BBB’s technical projects, from new pyrolysis deployments to operational improvements and cross-functional initiatives.

A key focus of the role will be the delivery of BBB’s flagship projects in the Greater Manchester area, which sit at the heart of our scale-up strategy. These high-profile deployments will involve close coordination with local partners, suppliers and internal teams, and will act as reference sites for future roll-out across the UK.

You will work closely with the operations, research, finance and leadership teams, helping projects move from concept through to execution. This role blends project management, technical understanding and practical problem-solving, and suits someone who is comfortable being on the move, visiting sites, working with partners, and resolving real-world challenges on the ground.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys learning by doing and wants to play a central role in scaling one of the UK’s most exciting climate/agri-tech organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional technical projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets and objectives are met.
  • Coordinate closely with pyrolysis hosts, suppliers, engineers and partners to keep projects moving.
  • Manage project documentation, reporting, risk tracking and stakeholder communication.
  • Support site assessments, installations and commissioning, spending time on the ground when needed.
  • Troubleshoot operational or technical issues to keep projects on track.
  • Work with Operations and Finance to define project scope, milestones and resourcing.
  • Build strong relationships with partners through workshops, 1:1s, site visits and reviews.
  • Capture technical learning, feeding insights back into product, engineering and operations teams.
  • Ensure health, safety and certification requirements are met across project delivery.
  • Maintain a clear, structured view of priorities across multiple concurrent projects.

What We Are Looking For

  • Project delivery mindset: organised, structured, and able to move complex tasks forward.
  • Technical curiosity: comfortable learning about pyrolysis, biochar, engineering processes and agricultural systems.
  • Hands-on problem solver: willing to travel to sites, roll up your sleeves, and resolve issues directly.
  • Calm under pressure: steady when priorities shift or unexpected challenges appear.
  • Strong communicator: able to translate complex information simply and clearly.
  • Collaborative: credits others, supports teammates, and builds trust with partners.
  • Highly organised: strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: thrives in an early-stage environment without rigid structure.
  • Relationship-builder: confident working with suppliers, contractors, farmers and industrial partners.
  • Experience in project management, operations, engineering, agri-tech, CDR, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with budgets, procurement and risk management.

What You Will Get From Us

  • A cross-cutting hands-on experience working in a purposeful, impact-driven, fast-paced start-up at the frontier of climate tech innovation.
  • The chance to grow and shape an organisation in its early stages.
  • Health insurance including dental, optical and mental health cover.
  • 25 days annual leave a year, not including bank holidays and the ability to remote work permanently for two weeks a year, and the option to buy back up to 5 days of annual leave.
  • Building a greener future where your work removes carbon, restores soil health, decarbonises energy and creates a lasting positive impact for generations to come.
