Effective enforcement is crucial to maintain public confidence in the planning system and act against harmful development. We want to find someone to support our existing officers to do just that. With the growth we are experiencing and expected to further receive with our new local plan, we are looking to appoint a Planning Enforcement Team Leader. You will lead a dedicated team of professionals to deliver on our enforcement responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Investigating complaints of unauthorised development and take enforcement action where appropriate.
- Undertake investigations in line with planning enforcement policy.
- Deal with complex enforcement cases and take forward required legal action.
- Review and maintain the Planning Enforcement Policy, supplementary documents and keep up to date with relevant legislation.
- Conduct interviews and administer cautions.
- Prepare and give evidence on behalf of the council in connection with planning enforcement.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of planning enforcement.
- Experience of investigating complicated cases, monitoring sites, serving formal notices and preparing matters for court.
- Team player with excellent communication and negotiating skills.
- Ability to handle complex and sensitive information with respect.
- Experience in shaping service delivery and supporting team objectives.
Position Details
- Scale 6 (£39,862 – £44,075 per annum) + Market Supplement up to £5,000 per annum (Reviewed Annually)
- 37 hours per week
- Permanent
