Effective enforcement is crucial to maintain public confidence in the planning system and act against harmful development. We want to find someone to support our existing officers to do just that. With the growth we are experiencing and expected to further receive with our new local plan, we are looking to appoint a Planning Enforcement Team Leader. You will lead a dedicated team of professionals to deliver on our enforcement responsibilities.
This role will include but not be limited to:
- Investigating complaints of unauthorised development and taking enforcement action where appropriate.
- Undertaking investigations in line with planning enforcement policy.
- Dealing with complex enforcement cases and taking forward required legal action.
- Reviewing and maintaining the Planning Enforcement Policy, supplementary documents and keeping up to date with relevant legislation.
- Conducting interviews and administering cautions.
- Preparing and giving evidence on behalf of the council in connection with planning enforcement.
We are looking for individuals with knowledge of planning enforcement and experience of investigating complicated cases, monitoring sites, serving formal notices and preparing matters for court. We want team players, excellent communicators with good negotiating skills. The role is varied and involves interaction with a variety of different types of people in a manner of different methods. There will be some complex and sensitive information to manage too and therefore respecting this will be crucial to success. You will be able to shape this service to deliver on its goals and support will be given.
