The Role
As Housing Accommodation & Enabling Officer, you will support the day-to-day delivery of temporary accommodation services, ensuring that accommodation is allocated, managed, and monitored effectively and in line with the Council’s statutory duties. Organise placements, coordinate moves in and out of accommodation. Carry out inventory checks and property handovers. Liaise with landlords, internal teams, and partner agencies. Provide clear advice to households about licence conditions, responsibilities and expected standards of behaviour. Support monitoring and analysis relating to affordable housing delivery and contribute to service planning, reporting and decision-making.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in housing, homelessness, or customer-facing service and supporting vulnerable people in complex situations.
- Strong administrative skills and confidence using IT systems, including housing management systems.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation and guidance (Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017) and understanding of landlord and tenant responsibilities, welfare benefits, safeguarding, domestic abuse and data protection requirements.
- Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills; ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with landlords and partners.
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grades 4‑9/A*‑C or equivalent, and a full driving licence.
- Basic DBS check will be required.
