Overview
As Senior Engineering Manager for Compliance, you lead cross-functional squads to deliver secure, trustworthy connections between clients and freelancers. You shape the technical and product strategy for compliance, balancing regulatory requirements with user experience and platform scalability. You drive delivery excellence, mentor engineers, and own the ecosystem with external partners. This role combines hands-on leadership with strategic influence to advance Malt’s mission of flexible, safe work.

Responsibilities
- Directly manage 2–3 cross-functional squads (8–15 engineers) and cultivate a high-trust, engaging environment
- Co-create long-term compliance domain vision with Product Director and Design Lead, translating regulatory needs into usable features
- Own delivery lifecycle by setting KPIs for velocity and quality and balance rapid delivery with architectural health
- Contribute to Engineering Manager Guild to scale best practices across the organization
- Own the compliance ecosystem, serving as tech contact for external partners and ensuring scalable integrations
Key requirements
- Hands-on manager with strong backend foundation (Java/Kotlin)
- Experience scaling compliance or fintech systems in high-security environments
- Strategic risk management mindset at tech-regulation intersection
- Strong communicator fluent in English (French a plus)
- Technical awareness of AI trends and their application to compliance
