Location: Hybrid Working – Newcastle NE1
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 35‑hour week (Flexitime). Minimum 3 times per week in office. There may be requirements to visit other offices and client sites for meetings and general collaboration.

Role Overview: The Semi‑Senior Accountant role is about building on your existing accounting knowledge and putting theory into practice. You’ll be part‑qualified and continuing to study toward a professional qualification, while gaining hands‑on experience in a real‑world environment. You’ll be responsible for completing assigned accounting tasks accurately and in line with accounting standards, with a strong focus on detail and compliance. You’ll work closely with more experienced team members, learning from them and developing your practical skills as your confidence grows.
How You’ll Make a Difference:
- Apply core accounting principles confidently in day‑to‑day accounting work.
- Prepare VAT returns, management accounts, journals and basic statutory accounts with minimal supervision.
- Support more complex or group accounts, including adjustments and consolidations.
- Complete simple corporation tax computations and assist with more complex cases.
- Apply practical tax and compliance knowledge (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax) to client work.
Work – Digital & Data Lite:
- Use systems such as Silverfin, Alphatax, Xero, Karbon and Excel confidently.
- Validate, reconcile and format data accurately.
- Spot and resolve data issues early.
- Suggest process improvements using system knowledge.
Learning and Development:
- Act on feedback and apply learning to new client work.
- Take a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Raise queries clearly with seniors and share knowledge with peers and newer colleagues.
Delivery & Ownership:
- Review your own work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Take ownership of areas you can complete independently.
- Use templates and tools to produce consistent, high‑quality outputs.
- Track time accurately and work within budget expectations.
- Manage workload independently, meeting deadlines and flagging risks.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Write clear, well‑structured emails and updates.
- Explain technical matters simply to non‑specialists.
- Support team discussions, onboarding and cross‑pod collaboration.
Client Focus & Professional Conduct:
- Build positive relationships with clients through clear, reliable communication.
- Respond to client queries confidently via email and calls.
- Produce client‑ready work with minimal revisions.
- Act professionally at all times, maintaining confidentiality and raising issues promptly.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience: 1–2 years’ experience in accounts and business services.
- Skills & Standards: Confidence using accounts and data analysis. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
- Qualifications: Currently studying toward AAT, ACA or ACCA.
