We are currently recruiting for a Tax Associate to join our team in Bromsgrove. Our Bromsgrove office specialises in supporting Foster carers and Shared Lives carers by providing two services:
- A free telephone advice line to circa 30,000 households throughout the UK. Call volumes vary from 30 or so per day in quiet periods to 80-100 in the busy period (November - January).
- A tax return preparation service for paying clients (currently circa 4000 clients).
Brief Job Description
- Handling calls on the tax, national insurance and benefits helpline.
- Processing tax returns.
- Generating bills on CCH and sending out completed tax returns and documents by e‑mail for client approval.
- Processing self‑assessment tax returns for our Foster carer clients.
- Preparing the tax return from the information received from a client up to the “review” stage.
- Preparing the letter that goes out with the tax return.
- Contacting HMRC to resolve queries on a client’s tax return and preparing appeals for penalties.
Requirements for the role
- Excellent people skills, particularly over the phone.
- The ability to do repetitive, process‑driven tasks quickly and accurately.
- Ideally some knowledge of personal tax.
- A good working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
- Knowledge of CCH accounting software (preferred but not required).
