We’re looking for a Rural Assistant/Technician to join our thriving and collaborative Rural Team, based out of our Gloucester office. The main purpose for this role is to support the Rural Team in the provision of rural valuations, land agency and management advice for retained clients. Whether you’re a recent graduate or someone with practical experience looking to develop your career in rural surveying, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within a supportive and knowledgeable team.
Location: Office-based at our Gloucester Hub.
Work Pattern: This role can be full‑time or part‑time.
Qualifications: Degree educated in an area such as agriculture or rural land management. Other qualifications/experience will be considered.
About the role: You will play a key role in supporting our Rural Team with helping to deliver high‑quality land and property services to a diverse range of clients across Gloucestershire and surrounding regions. This role is varied and hands‑on, combining office‑based responsibilities with site visits, offering an opportunity to gain practical experience in rural valuations, land agency and estate management. You will work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to the delivery of tailored advice and services whilst developing your own knowledge and skills. You will have the opportunity to progress professionally. We are open to supporting the Associate RICS pathway.

What you’ll be doing:
- Support the team in delivering rural services, including valuations, land agency, and estate management.
- Assist with on‑site work and inspections as required.
- Keep appropriate records of current work that are required by the team/firm and ensure all work is stored correctly.
- Deliver a quality service to clients and team colleagues.
- Work with all clients and members of the public professionally.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and maintain a record of professional development.
- Represent Bruton Knowles professionally, both internally and externally.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree (or equivalent) in agriculture, rural land management, or a related subject (other relevant qualifications will be considered).
- An understanding or interest in rural matters and agriculture.
- The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Full driving licence, access to a car and willingness to undertake some regional travel.

- Final Stage: An interview with the Senior Rural Surveyor.
