About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mobile HGV Mechanic to join our growing team. Working from a fully equipped service vehicle, you will provide maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and breakdown support for a fleet of HGV trucks and trailers across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys working independently while delivering high-quality service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on HGV trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and braking system faults.
  • Attend roadside breakdowns and provide emergency repair support.
  • Complete MOT preparation and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults efficiently.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, inspection reports, and service records.
  • Maintain a safe and professional working environment at customer sites.
  • Liaise with customers and management regarding repair requirements and vehicle status.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HGV/Truck and Trailer Technician or Mechanic.
  • Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with trailer servicing and repairs.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Desirable Skills

  • IRTEC accreditation.
  • Experience with roadside breakdown assistance.
  • Knowledge of major truck manufacturers such as DAF, Scania, Volvo Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, and MAN Truck & Bus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
