At BJF Group, we're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead our finance function and play a key role in supporting strategic business growth. This is more than a traditional financial control role. We're seeking a finance leader who can combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight, process improvement, and people leadership.
As a trusted partner to the Group Finance Director and wider leadership team, you'll ensure robust financial governance, drive continuous improvement, and provide the financial insight that helps shape business decisions across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll lead the day-to-day financial control function while supporting the wider business to achieve its strategic goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow processes.
- Overseeing all accounting operations including ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial controls.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards and audit processes.
- Acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Developing and strengthening financial controls, policies and governance frameworks.
- Driving financial systems improvement and leveraging technology, including Power BI and business intelligence tools.
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team.
- Supporting the Group Finance Director on strategic and commercial initiatives.
- Providing senior-level cover for finance and payroll processing/authorisation activities when required.
About You
We're looking for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys balancing operational excellence with strategic contribution.
You'll bring:
Essential
- Significant experience in financial management, financial control or a similar senior finance position.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, compliance and governance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
- Experience using data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
Desirable
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Experience within facilities management, construction, engineering or multi-site service environments.
- Experience leading finance transformation or system implementation projects.
