We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant with a minimum of 2 years' experience to join our friendly team in Maidstone. This is an office based role, and the successful candidate will work 35 hours per week (hours to be discussed). You will be working closely with clients, and the wider team to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping using cloud software, particularly QuickBooks and Xero
  • Assisting accountants to ensure smooth handover of year-end data
  • Preparing VAT Returns
  • Processing CIS calculations as part of the bookkeeping
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping issues and queries
  • Training clients to use QuickBooks and Xero
  • Keeping up to date with relevant industry topics
  • Working on own initiative, including travel to clients across Kent (own transport required)
  • Meeting deadlines for filings
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
  • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Level 3 AAT Bookkeeper Certifications (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years' bookkeeping experience
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Xero
  • Knowledge of VAT, CIS processes
  • Strong communication skills and a professional manner with clients
  • Good task planning, time management and ability to work autonomously
