Teaching Assistant – SEND

This is a term-time only role, working 32 hours per week, ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students while maintaining a strong work-life balance.

About the role

As a Teaching Assistant – SEND, you will work closely with students who require additional support to thrive both academically and socially. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop independence — making a genuine and lasting impact on their school experience.

You will be part of a supportive SEND team, working collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to ensure every student is understood, supported and challenged appropriately.

Key responsibilities

Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEND
Support the delivery of personalised learning strategies in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
Encourage the development of independence, communication, confidence and social skills
Work in partnership with teaching staff, parents and professionals to support positive outcomes
Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where all students can succeed

Salary

Grade 6 – upto £31,022 (full-time equivalent)

Actual salary will be pro-rated for term-time working, 32 hours per week.

A strong commitment to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Experience working with SEND students in an educational setting is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Ability to adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the individual needs of students.
Patience, empathy, and the resilience to work with students facing various challenges.
Relevant qualifications or training in special education or related fields is an advantage.
