This is a newly created Learning & Development Manager role within a fast-growing premium hospitality business, offering the opportunity to build and shape the L&D function as the company enters its next stage of growth.
The role would suit an experienced hospitality operator who has moved into Learning & Development and understands what great training looks like in a busy, multi-site environment. You will be responsible for developing the overall L&D strategy, creating and delivering learning programmes, working closely with Operations and senior stakeholders, and ensuring training has a measurable impact on team performance and the wider business.
This is a hands-on role. You will spend significant time in the field, working alongside teams to understand what is working well, where performance can improve and whether the solution sits within training, leadership, process, standards or capability.
You will initially lead a team of two, with the wider training team expected to grow as the business expands. You will work closely with the Head of People, as well as senior Operations leaders across the business.
The role will support company-owned sites alongside international growth and franchise partners, so there will also be regular opportunities for international travel, including to the US.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Learning & Development strategy across the business
- Design and create engaging learning content and programmes
- Deliver training across multiple sites and teams
- Work closely with Operations to identify performance and capability gaps
- Support managers and teams in embedding high operational standards
- Measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives and demonstrate return on investment
- Lead, coach and develop the existing training team
- Support learning requirements linked to new openings, international growth and franchise partners
- Build scalable L&D processes and programmes that can grow with the business
- Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure learning remains commercially relevant and operationally effective
About you
We are looking for someone with strong hospitality experience, ideally gained within high standard restaurants or cafe environments. You will have experience of building learning programmes rather than simply delivering existing training, and you will be comfortable working from strategy through to hands-on implementation.
You should also bring:
- Strong Learning & Development experience within branded restaurant operations
- A good understanding of how to measure training effectiveness and return on investment
- Experience creating learning content and programmes
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Confidence working closely with senior Operations teams
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to support teams on the ground
- Strong commercial awareness
- High standards and attention to detail
- The ability to make decisions, take ownership and work effectively in a fast-moving environment
This is an excellent opportunity for someone ambitious who wants to build a Learning & Development function, make a visible impact across the business and grow with the company. There is a clear opportunity for the successful person to develop towards a Head of Learning & Development role as the business continues to expand.
