Bison Solicitors is a well-established mental health firm practising throughout central and southern England. We have built a national reputation in mental health legal practice and are continuing to expand our Court of Protection practice.
Our dynamic, rapidly expanding Human Rights and Court of Protection department principally represents clients throughout Hampshire, Surrey, London, Manchester and the Midlands who are deprived of their liberty in care homes or hospitals, lack mental capacity to make decisions about their residence and care, and object to their deprivation of liberty. We represent these clients through a litigation friend, often the Official Solicitor, to challenge their deprivation of liberty and ensure that they are cared for in the least restrictive conditions conducive to their safety.
We are now looking to recruit paralegals, to be based remotely to assist and support our fee-earners in Court of Protection matters, with responsibilities including:
- Office administration e.g. diary management, minuting meetings;
- Preparing/updating court bundles;
- Drafting correspondence/court documents with supervision;
- Legal research;
- Applications to the Legal Aid Agency;
- Liaising with clients/the court/other parties on behalf of fee-earners as needed.
Applicants must have the relevant legal degrees, training and have strong organisational skills together with excellent IT ability, excellent oral and written communication skills, be self-motivated and enthusiastic, and able to work co-operatively within a team.
