The Mathematics Department consists of a groupof specialists who are continually striving for excellence. At the heart of thedepartment is a strong and well sequenced curriculum, that encourages studentsof all abilities to engage and foster a love for the subject. We are fortunateto be well resourced in technology within classrooms, sporting the latest inProwise boards. The department also continue to seek ways to create a blendedlearning classroom with the school Chromebook programme.
The Mathematics department are fortunate enoughto a high proportion of dedicated learning hours in comparison to other schoolsin Hertfordshire. All students at KS4 work towards the Pearson GCSEspecification for mathematics, and some students are also entered for entrylevel qualifications. Students are regularly assessed in both key stages, whichenables the opportunity to adapt the curriculum to accommodate for any supportneeded.
Students are encouraged to engage in learningoutside the classroom with the use of Sparx. The Mathematics department havealso supported students in taking part in regional and national competitions.
Continued professional development is key tothe success in the classroom, and we encourage staff to take part in trainingwithin our Trust training hub, and also as part of the National ProfessionalQualifications. The department has a variety of experience, and all members ofthe team benefit from relevant training, mentoring or coaching.
