VAT Director in Birmingham

About The Role

Bishop Fleming is looking for a VAT Director to lead our VAT team and play a pivotal role within a rapidly growing firm. The candidate will be a strategic thinker who develops a comprehensive VAT advisory service for a wide range of clients, works closely with Partners and Service Line Heads, and contributes to the firm’s long‑term strategic direction.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Head of VAT to formulate and implement the VAT strategy.
• Lead, build, and develop the VAT team, ensuring each member reaches their full potential.
• Ensure the VAT team delivers effective support across International, Property, Charity, and other areas, including making Tax digital.
• Communicate key VAT developments internally and externally via blogs and social media.
• Build relationships and win new work.

About You

• Considerable experience working within VAT in a professional services environment.
• A strategic mindset to grow and develop Bishop Fleming’s VAT offering.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence at all levels.
• Strong people‑management skills.
• A desire to contribute to the overall success of Bishop Fleming.
