About The Role
- We're seeking an organised and proactive
- Maintenance Scheduler to join our Engineering team at our
Llantarnam Bakery .
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our maintenance activities are planned and coordinated effectively, helping to maximise asset reliability and support the safe, efficient operation of a busy manufacturing site.
Working closely with the Engineering Planning Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the development and management of maintenance plans that deliver safe, best-cost maintenance and maximise equipment availability.
You'll coordinate planned maintenance activities, manage schedules, and ensure the effective allocation of resources to support both operational requirements and long‑term asset performance.
As a critical link between Engineering and Operations, you will help drive maintenance excellence by ensuring work is planned, prioritised and executed efficiently.
Through effective use of maintenance systems, data analysis and forward planning, you will contribute to improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
This role offers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and high-performing engineering team, where your attention to detail, organisational skills and proactive approach will directly contribute to the bakery's operational success.

- Main Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Planning Manager in delivering the site engineering plan and achieving key departmental KPIs through effective planning, scheduling and maintenance administration.
- Produce and maintain weekly engineering schedules, ensuring planned maintenance activities are accurately prioritised, resourced and communicated.
- Manage the creation and administration of maintenance work orders and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks within the Shire CMMS, ensuring all activities are logged and tracked effectively.
- Monitor, review and close completed work orders, ensuring maintenance records are accurate, up to date and fully compliant.
- Prepare, print and distribute maintenance work orders and supporting documentation to the relevant engineering teams.
- Gather, analyse and communicate engineering performance data, producing KPI reports and insights that support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
- Maintain engineering administration, documentation and filing systems, ensuring records remain current and comply with internal policies and external audit requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for queries relating to the engineering schedule and maintenance plan, resolving issues where possible and escalating as appropriate.
- Provide cover for the Engineering Planning Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of planning and scheduling activities.
- Support the effective administration of Engineering Stores and engineering spend processes, helping to maintain accurate records and efficient stock management.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Engineering, Operations and wider site teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance planning, scheduling processes and overall asset performance.
- Take an active role in personal development and training, while supporting the wider Engineering team's commitment to learning, best practice and operational excellence.
- Champion the Company's values and promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across the site.
Who We Are Looking For
- Strong IT skills with proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including the ability to analyse data, produce reports and support performance monitoring.
- Experience in a maintenance planning, scheduling or engineering administration role within a manufacturing or engineering environment is desirable.
- Experience using Shire CMMS or a similar Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is desirable.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain reliable maintenance records and data integrity.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively across Engineering and Operations teams.
- Proactive and self‑motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes.
