About the role
Biscuit International UK has 1 site in the UK and this opportunity is located in Gateshead. We have been operating for more than 80 years in the UK. We are looking for a Finance Manager to join our Finance team. This integral position will manage an evolving Finance Department, implement robust controls, and drive continuous improvement. The Finance Manager will ensure the delivery of accurate financial information and services, manage the Finance Team, and support the Finance Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) in monitoring and evaluating financial performance.
Our new colleague's key responsibilities:
- Prepare end-to-end monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of intercompany reconciliation and monthly Group reports.
- Manage the Finance Team, driving continuous improvement and ensuring strong controls.
- Lead the performance of the Finance Team to deliver accurate financial information and services.
- Produce annual statutory accounts and manage the financial year-end audit.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Supply Chain teams to improve the order-to-cash process, recover aged debt, and manage cash flow.
- Work with the Finance Director and SMT to monitor and evaluate actual spending vs. budget.
- Provide monthly insight and commentary on key variances and action points.
- Manage the external audit process.
- Collaborate with other business departments to provide effective financial information.
- Monitor cash flow, challenge payment terms, and maintain low debtor days within the working capital cycle.
- Assist with budgeting processes, including annual budgets, reforecasts, and full P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow packs.
- Manage the invoice factoring process, ensuring adequate cash for day-to-day activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely performance of all accounting functions, including revenue recognition, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, month-end tasks, and group reporting.
- Develop and implement suitable internal controls and separation of duties.
- Work closely with the credit controller to manage debt collection and weekly reporting.
- Review and improve accounting processes and practices for efficient financial operations.
- Drive continuous improvement by supporting the Head of Finance in identifying and implementing process and control improvements.
- Provide cover for the Head of Finance and Management Accountant as needed.

- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with 3 years post-qualified experience.
- 5 years of experience in a similar role, including preparation of annual statutory accounts.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Great attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft packages.
- Ability to remain impartial and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- People management skills.
- Experience in the FMCG industry is desirable.
