We are currently recruiting for an experienced Logistics and Planning Coordinator to join a well-established industrial business operating across the food and specialty products sector. The business manages the import, storage, repackaging, and distribution of products across the UK and internationally. This is a fast-paced and highly varied coordination role, responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing customer deliveries while ensuring efficient use of the company fleet and third-party logistics providers. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure all operational plans are achievable, cost-effective, and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning, scheduling, and processing UK and international deliveries (bulk, IBC, and palletised goods)
- Optimising use of company fleet and third-party haulage providers
- Using routing and scheduling systems to improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Supporting inbound planning and monitoring inventory levels
- Coordinating with commercial, operations, and production teams
- Managing returnable transit packaging (IBC's)
- Handling transport documentation and dangerous goods paperwork
- Supporting import/export processes including customs requirements
- Raising and checking purchase orders for third-party suppliers
- Monitoring delivery performance and resolving operational issues
- Managing logistics non-conformances through to resolution
- Tracking order trends and highlighting variances
- Producing KPI reporting on a weekly and monthly basis
- Liaising with 3PL providers to monitor performance and service levels
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in logistics coordination, transport planning, or supply chain operations
- Experience working with third-party haulage providers
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and wider Office packages
- Experience with ERP/MRP or logistics systems (Paragon desirable)
- Experience within multi-drop or international logistics advantageous
- A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced operational environment
