This is an excellent opportunity for a CIPS qualified Procurement Manager to lead and develop the procurement function in a SME distribution business with global reach. The role will be responsible for supplier performance, purchasing, inventory optimisation and cost control, while supporting wider operational growth and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies, managing supplier selection, negotiation, contracts, performance and risk across UK and international suppliers.
- Manage purchasing and inventory to optimise stock availability, working capital and service levels, while minimising excess and obsolete stock.
- Deliver cost savings and manage procurement budgets, including supplier pricing, freight, customs, rebates and other associated costs.
- Drive procurement process, systems and continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP/MRP optimisation and alternative sourcing.
- Work closely with cross functional teams, providing commercial insight, reporting and support against wider business objectives.
Key Experience
- Proven procurement or supply chain management experience, ideally within a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Strong end-to-end procurement experience, including international sourcing, supplier negotiation, contract management and supplier performance.
- Good understanding of inventory management, stock control, purchasing and the commercial impact of working capital.
- Strong analytical, financial and systems capability, with experience using ERP/MRP and procurement systems and advanced Excel.
- Commercially astute, proactive and results-driven, with excellent stakeholder management and a practical continuous improvement mindset. CIPS qualification essential.
