My client, a leading organisation within their sector are looking for an experienced Assistant Transport Manager to support the Transport Manager in the day-to-day management of their driver operation. You will lead a large and growing team of 55+ route drivers and 10+ emergency drivers, working closely with the Driver Trainer to maintain high standards of performance, attendance, compliance and customer service. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident managing people, solving problems and working in a fast-paced transport environment. Key Responsibilities: Take overall responsibility for the management of the driver team Oversee the daily 4:30am - 6:00am dispatch process, ensuring all routes are covered and operating effectively Take responsibility for daily dispatch, driver cover and operational problem-solving Manage and maintain all Daily and Route Allocation Templates, ensuring drivers, vehicles and routes are correctly allocated Investigate delivery and driver-related complaints and take appropriate action with the driver concerned Monitor driver performance, attendance, timekeeping and conduct, addressing issues promptly Manage and support driver investigations and performance-related matters. Conduct driver recruitment, interviews and new-driver inductions. Oversee driver compliance with company procedures and standards. Work closely with the Transport Admin team to support effective route planning and daily operations. The successful candidate must have multi drop experience, and ideal some home delivery experience.
