Overview:
Our client is an aftercare service engineering business providing servicing, refurbishment, modifications and maintenance on food manufacturing machinery. They are now looking for a Service Manager who will lead a team of field service engineers covering customer equipment in the UK and overseas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and schedule a team of field service engineers planning and allocating their workload in response to customer requirements.
- Recruit and develop a team to carry out all service and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure team members are adequately trained to carry out the necessary work on customer equipment, this could be electrical, mechanical and combustion engineering.
- Maintain close day to day contact with the team to gain accurate understanding of resources and allocation of time.
- In busy periods, operate as a Service Engineer.
- Ensure the team complete and deliver all of the necessary paperwork and administration.
- Monitor team performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement in service processes, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers as needed.
Person Specification:
- Either a very well established service engineer looking to take the step into management or a service manager in a similar role with engineering or industrial maintenance.
- Have a strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and plant.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing machinery or similar (FMCG, Packaging or Automation).
- Hands on engineering background in a multi-skilled, electrical, mechanical or combustion engineering context.
- Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills.
- Comfortable liaising with customers and team alike.
