Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our client's team at their Leeds depot. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the delivery fleet, which includes up to 130 vehicles ranging from vans to artics.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule vehicle routes to maximise efficiency and ensure timely deliveries.
- Allocate drivers and vehicles in line with operational needs and legal requirements (e.g. drivers' hours, Working Time Directive).
- Liaise with customers, drivers, and depot teams to maintain high service levels.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety standards, and transport legislation.
- Produce transport reports and analyse performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Support the wider transport team during peak periods and coordinate across multiple depots.
Experience
- Proven experience in a transport planning role, ideally within multi-temperature or FMCG logistics.
- Experience planning 40+ multi drop routes per day.
- Strong working knowledge of UK geography and routing systems.
- Familiarity with transport compliance, driver hours, and fleet operations.
- Proficiency in Paragon, TMS, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
