The Transport Planner is responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of a dedicated section of the fleet, ensuring agreed service levels are maintained while maximising vehicle utilisation and customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities

  • Efficiently plan and route the fleet of vehicles to maximise productivity and profitability
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and subcontractors
  • Accurately process jobs using transport management software
  • Prepare and provide quotations for customers
  • Support drivers with job information and assist in resolving operational issues
  • Ensure drivers comply with hours and working time regulations
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with relevant legislation and company standards
  • Optimise vehicle allocation and rotation to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Schedule vehicles for inspections, servicing, and repairs as required
  • Monitor service levels, vehicle utilisation, and customer satisfaction targets

Qualifications / Skills

  • Previous experience in vehicle routing and fleet planning
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Competent computer skills and familiarity with transport management systems
