Summary
We are looking for a highly organised and experienced Assistant Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a transport operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining compliance, and supporting driver performance while helping to deliver an efficient and reliable transport service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Transport Manager in the daily management of the transport operation.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of vehicle and driver schedules.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with all transport legislation, including drivers' hours and tachograph regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to drivers to ensure high performance, safety, and compliance standards.
- Assist with route planning, vehicle utilisation, and operational efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues quickly to minimise disruption.
- Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation.
- Support driver briefings, training, and performance management.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
Key Skills/Experience
- Strong transport industry knowledge and experience.
- Excellent understanding of drivers' hours regulations and transport compliance.
- Previous experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet management role.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills when working with drivers and operational teams.
- Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
