We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a busy operational site in Tilbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and hands-on Health & Safety professional who is passionate about creating a safe working environment, influencing positive behaviours, and driving a strong safety culture across the operation. Must have NVQ level 6 and NEBOSH.
Working closely with operational teams and senior management, you will provide expert health and safety guidance, ensure compliance with legislation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and workplace safety checks
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company policies
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions
- Support managers in developing safe systems of work and improving site standards
- Monitor safety performance and produce reports, KPIs, and recommendations
- Drive a positive health and safety culture through coaching, engagement, and visible presence on the shop floor
- Work closely with operational teams to identify risks and implement practical solutions
- Support continuous improvement projects and compliance initiatives
- Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within a fast-paced operational environment
- Must have NVQ level 6
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice
- Experience conducting investigations, audits, and risk assessments
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confident challenging unsafe behaviours and influencing change
- Strong organisational and reporting skills
- A hands-on and pragmatic approach to health and safety
