Summary

We are working with a growing SME that is entering an exciting period of expansion and is looking to appoint a commercially driven Country Manager to lead and develop the UK business. This is a broad, hands‑on leadership role with genuine responsibility for the end‑to‑end operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the UK strategy, opening new branches, growing revenue, and building the infrastructure required to support continued expansion. You will have responsibility across supply chain, sales, finance, marketing, property, and operations, working closely with the wider leadership team to deliver the company's ambitious growth.

We are looking for someone who is commercially astute, entrepreneurial, and highly hands‑on. This isn't a role for someone who wants to operate purely at board level; you'll be expected to get involved, make decisions, solve problems, and drive the business forward. You will be comfortable working in an SME environment where things move quickly, priorities change, and you have the opportunity to genuinely influence the direction of the business. Most importantly, you will have the energy, ambition, and commercial capability to help build the UK operation from its current platform into a much larger national business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the UK business and its commercial performance
  • Develop and execute the UK growth strategy
  • Lead the opening and successful launch of new branches across the UK
  • Oversee end‑to‑end supply chain and operational activities
  • Drive sales growth, customer development, and market expansion
  • Work closely with finance to manage budgets, forecasting, profitability, and financial performance
  • Develop and oversee UK marketing activity to support growth
  • Identify and negotiate suitable property and branch locations
  • Manage property leasing, landlords, agents, and associated commercial negotiations
  • Build and develop high‑performing teams as the UK operation grows
  • Establish effective processes, systems, and controls to support scale
  • Monitor KPIs and commercial performance, taking decisive action where required
  • Identify new commercial opportunities and continually challenge how the business can improve
  • Act as the key senior representative for the UK business

Key Skills/Experience

  • Degree educated, ideally with a strong commercial or business‑related background
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership, Country Manager, General Manager, Managing Director or similar role
  • Strong commercial understanding with experience managing a P&L and delivering profitable growth
  • Experience within a growing SME or entrepreneurial environment is highly desirable
  • Proven experience of opening new sites, branches, or locations
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain and operational management
  • Experience across sales, finance, marketing, and commercial strategy
  • Good understanding of commercial property, including leasing and negotiating new premises
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills
  • Highly commercially aware with a strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills

All applicants must have an unrestricted right to work in the UK as our client will not support visa sponsorship for this role.
