Salary: £65K + additional benefits Summary We are looking for an experienced and motivated General Manager - Transport to lead and develop our transport operation.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in transport management, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilties Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring service excellence and operational efficiency.
Manage and develop transport managers, planners, supervisors, drivers, and support teams.
Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, health and safety requirements, and operator licence obligations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service levels, and cost efficiency.
Manage transport budgets, KPIs, and performance reporting.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for operational growth and process improvement.
Promote a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
Lead investigations, incident management, and corrective action plans where required.
Support business strategy and contribute to wider organisational objectives.
Key Skills / Experience Significant senior management experience within a transport or logistics environment.
Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
CPC qualification (National or International) is highly desirable.
Proven experience managing large teams and multi-site operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong financial and commercial acumen.
Ability to analyse operational data and implement improvements.
Experience managing KPIs, budgets, and performance.
Full UK driving licence.
