We are looking for an experienced and motivated General Manager - Transport to lead and develop our transport operation.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in transport management, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Key Responsibilties
- Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Manage and develop transport managers, planners, supervisors, drivers, and support teams.
- Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, health and safety requirements, and operator licence obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service levels, and cost efficiency.
- Manage transport budgets, KPIs, and performance reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for operational growth and process improvement.
- Promote a positive culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
- Lead investigations, incident management, and corrective action plans where required.
- Support business strategy and contribute to wider organisational objectives.
- Key Skills / Experience
- Significant senior management experience within a transport or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
- CPC qualification (National or International) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing large teams and multi-site operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Ability to analyse operational data and implement improvements.
- Experience managing KPIs, budgets, and performance.
- Full UK driving licence.
