We are recruiting for a Transport Manager to lead a busy 3PL transport operation, managing a fleet of 38 Class 1 vehicles in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for delivering a safe, compliant and efficient transport function, while driving service performance, cost control and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will hold a CPC, be highly confident using transport systems and data, and be able to turn operational insight into effective decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will take ownership of the day‑to‑day transport operation, ensuring legal compliance, service excellence and operational efficiency across the fleet.
  • Manage the transport operation for a fleet of 38 Class 1 vehicles within a fast‑paced 3PL environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with operator licence obligations, DVSA requirements, driver hours, Working Time Directive and company policies.
  • Lead, coach and support drivers and transport colleagues to maintain high standards of safety, service and performance.
  • Oversee vehicle compliance, maintenance planning, defect reporting, incident management and fleet security.
  • Monitor transport KPIs, analyse operational data and produce clear reports to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and infringements, implementing corrective actions to reduce repeat issues.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure service levels are achieved in line with operational and commercial targets.
Experience
  • To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced transport professional with strong operational leadership skills and a clear understanding of compliance in a commercial fleet environment.
  • Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar leadership role within a fast‑paced logistics, distribution or 3PL operation.
  • A valid CPC qualification is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance, driver hours and operational best practice.
  • Confident user of transport management systems, compliance platforms and Microsoft Office, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to improve service, cost and operational performance.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the operation.
