Birtenshaw is looking to appoint a Children's Home Registered Manager that is innovative, inspirational and a positive role model to staff teams and young people.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Worked for at least two years in a children’s home within the last five years.
  • Worked for at least one year in a supervisory or management role in a children’s home.
  • Experience of direct work with people who have moderate to severe learning disability, and/or autistic spectrum conditions, significant physical impairment and/or complex health needs.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent or willingness to commence within three months of appointment.

Salary: Starting salary will be ÂŁ45,365 per annum, increasing to ÂŁ52,750 upon completion of probationary period and relevant Level 5 qualification.

About our Children’s Homes

Birtenshaw Children’s Homes are at the heart of our Children’s Care Services, providing a safe, homely environment for children with a physical disability, complex health needs and a learning disability including Autism Spectrum Conditions. Located in the Bolton area, our Children’s Homes are ordinary houses, indistinguishable from their neighbours. However inside they are adapted to suit the individual physical and sensory needs of the young people who reside there. Up to four young people live together in an environment which is based on ordinary life principles. While they are supervised by a dedicated, experienced and well trained staff team, the Children’s Home is the main home of the young people. Life at the children’s homes is built around positive activity, with staff actively encouraging children and young people to try new experiences and participate in a wide range of sports, activities and interests in the evening and at weekends.

Main duties of the role include:

  • To promote the welfare of children and young people and ensure they are protected from harm.
  • To ensure regulatory compliance under the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Framework for Inspection.
  • To become the Registered Manager of a designated children’s home following the due process of registration.
  • To manage and supervise a team of Children’s Support Workers.
  • To ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies, whilst creating safe, positive, nurturing placements for children and young people.
  • To provide a responsive service using appropriate methods of assessment and intervention within relevant statutory and company requirements.
