We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic senior occupational therapist to join our hands team at Birmingham Women\’s and Children\’s Hospital. The post is a static position working with children and young people with congenital hand differences and traumatic hand injuries.
Responsibilities
- Provide a range of assessments and treatments for congenital hand differences and traumatic hand injuries, including splinting, ADL assessments, treatments to improve ROM, strength and function, and pre-operative assessments.
- Deliver the majority of therapy in outpatient settings, with some occasional ward-based work.
- Work closely with the medical team and other MDT members to deliver high levels of care.
- Develop skills in hand therapy and contribute to service development projects alongside the clinical caseload.
- Be involved in audits, research and additional patient activities such as residential trips.
- Collaborate with the wider hand and upper limb team on publications and presentations, and attend international conferences as a team.
Qualifications and experience
The post is suitable for an Occupational Therapist with some experience in hand therapy, who is keen to develop their skills further in this area.
