Midlands Mencap is looking for a motivated and experienced Co-Ordinator to lead and support Children and Young People’s services across Birmingham. You will manage staff teams, coordinate inclusive sessions, oversee referrals and assessments, and work closely with families and partner agencies to deliver high-quality, person-centred support for children and young people with complex disabilities. This is a full-time, permanent role with weekend and school holiday working.

What does a CYP Co-Ordinator do?
- Lead and facilitate structured sessions and activities based on identified need that meet desired outcomes of our unique children.
- Manage staffing rotas to ensure all sessions meet required legal ratios and align staff skills with children and young people’s needs.
- Provide frontline support and leadership during sessions (weekends and school holidays) and be part of the on-call team as required.
- Recruit, lead, manage and support a team of Support Workers including inductions, supervisions and HR/training needs.
- Support the marketing of Midland Mencap services to children, families and referral agencies in statutory and voluntary sectors.
- Undertake, review and ensure good quality risk assessments and person-centred plans.
- Understand barriers facing children/young people with complex needs and uphold their rights.
- Undertake initial investigations of complaints, disciplinary and grievance procedures for support staff.
- Work with CQC, Ofsted and other regulatory inspections; build and maintain multi-agency relationships.
- Identify safeguarding or child protection issues in line with multi-agency guidelines and maintain confidential records per policies and GDPR.
- Drive staff recruitment and children’s assessments; adapt to Midland Mencap needs and service developments.
Knowledge and Experience
- Essential: Experience of leading or managing a team of workers.
- Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism and those who care for them.
- Understanding of Ofsted/CQC regulations.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding protocols.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undertake / join DBS update service.
- Experience delivering personal care and using hoists.
- Good knowledge of GDPR and storing personal information on databases.
- Maintaining timely records; connecting with individuals, groups and multi-agency professionals.
- Desirable: Experience in an Ofsted and CQC regulated setting.
- Full driving license and access to a car (desirable) with willingness to commute and obtain business insurance.
- Qualifications such as Pediatric First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Level 2/3 Childcare or Level 2/3 Health and Social Care.

- Essential: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Teamwork and ability to work remotely.
- Proactive and focused; ability to work within given timescales.
- IT literate, including use of social media platforms.
- Effective team player and initiative.
- Desirable: Experience in regulated environments (Ofsted/CQC).
- Willingness to commute across the geographical area and obtain business insurance.
