To draft, review, revise and negotiate University agreements with third parties. To represent the University in negotiating terms and conditions of agreements with third parties. To assist business officers and other University personnel with contractual matters and understanding contractual terms. To ensure that University agreements with third parties comply with University policy and procedures and applicable international, federal and state laws.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews and revises university agreements, including outlining, assessing and managing associated risks, identifying potentially objectionable terms and conditions and determining appropriate language to ensure best position for University.
  • Ensures that agreements comply with University policies and procedures and state, federal and international regulations and laws.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions of agreements with third parties. Revises agreements following negotiation.
  • Interprets University policies and procedures and serves as a primary resource for University staff questions regarding third party contracts.
  • Communicates with and advises University staff on associated issues.
  • Trains appropriate University staff in completing contracts using University Contracts templates and on best templates to use for various projects.
  • Provides technical and topical expertise, information, training and problem resolution for University staff on University contracting issues.
  • Identifies and reports potential problems, actions and policy issues requiring clarification or corrective action.
  • Enters and maintains data related to activities step-by-step as appropriate in the contract management system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
  • None required.
