Description

PURPOSE

The Social Media & Events Manager develops and executes integrated digital marketing and event strategies that build brand awareness, support commercial objectives, and strengthen relationships with eye care professionals and business partners.

The role combines strategic social media management with the planning and delivery of exhibitions, conferences, educational events, product launches and customer engagement initiatives across the ophthalmic and optical equipment sector.

The role holder positions the company as a trusted partner in eye care by creating compelling content, driving audience engagement and delivering high-impact events that showcase innovative technologies and solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with business, marketing and sales objectives
  • Create, manage and optimise engaging content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other relevant channels
  • Own and maintain the company content calendar, ensuring consistent messaging, branding and campaign execution
  • Produce educational, promotional and thought leadership content supporting product launches, customer engagement and industry awareness
  • Monitor social channels, respond to enquiries and foster engagement with customers, partners and industry stakeholders
  • Analyse social media and campaign performance using analytics tools, providing recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager, Sales, Ecommerce Manager, Education team and external partners on content that highlights product benefits and customer success

Events Management

  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of conferences, exhibitions, workshops, training events and product launch meetings
  • Develop annual event plans aligned with marketing objectives and commercial priorities
  • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, registrations, travel, accommodation, exhibition stands, promotional materials and on-site support
  • Liaise with conference organisers, venues, suppliers, distributors and industry partners to ensure seamless delivery
  • Coordinate pre- and post-event marketing activity to maximise attendance, engagement and lead generation
  • Manage event budgets and negotiate supplier contracts, ensuring cost-effective delivery without compromising quality
  • Measure event success through attendee feedback, lead generation, commercial outcomes and ROI, producing post-event reports

Marketing & Brand Support

  • Support integrated marketing campaigns across digital and event channels
  • Coordinate marketing collateral, including event brochures, presentations, product literature, case studies and videos
  • Maintain brand consistency across all customer touchpoints and communications
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, designers, printers and photographers as required

AUTHORITY LEVEL

  • Authority to negotiate and manage supplier, venue and agency contracts for social media and events activity
  • Manages event budgets β€” specific approval/spend limit to be confirmed with Finance

Digital Marketing

  • Growth in social media followers, engagement rates and audience reach
  • Content delivery and campaign execution against the annual marketing plan
  • Website traffic, lead generation and conversion generated through digital activity

Events

  • Successful delivery of events on time and within budget
  • Quality and quantity of sales leads generated through events
  • Post-event ROI and stakeholder satisfaction scores

Business Impact

  • Contribution to brand awareness and market visibility, and consistency of brand communications across all channels

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Essential Experience & Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in social media marketing, events management or a broader marketing role
  • Proven experience managing corporate social media channels and delivering successful marketing campaigns
  • Experience planning and delivering exhibitions, conferences, trade shows or professional events
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing principles and content creation
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Creative mindset, able to develop engaging and impactful marketing content
  • Commercially aware, understanding how marketing supports business growth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media management platforms, analytics tools and content management systems
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Experience & Attributes

  • Experience within healthcare, medical device, ophthalmology, optometry or life sciences sectors
  • Experience using CRM, marketing automation and analytics platforms
  • Basic photography, graphic design or video editing capability
