Senior Lecturer in Allied Health (Speech and Language Therapy) in Birmingham

The School of Nursing and Allied Health (SoNAH) at Birmingham Newman University is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Allied Health (Speech and Language Therapy) to join our expanding academic team. This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in the development of a new pre-registration Speech and Language Therapy programme within a rapidly growing School of Nursing and Allied Health.

Working closely with the Head of School and Head of Subject - Allied Health, the successful candidate will contribute to the design, development and implementation of an innovative, contemporary and future-focused curriculum that prepares graduates to meet the evolving needs of individuals, families and communities across health, education and social care settings.

The successful post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, practice partners, Professional Statutory and Regulatory Bodies, the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Experts by Experience and other key stakeholders to create an outstanding programme that reflects the needs of contemporary practice and the future workforce.

The role will include curriculum design, module development, programme leadership activity, validation preparation, partnership working, recruitment and the development of high-quality learning, teaching and assessment strategies.

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for education, programme development and professional leadership. Applicants should demonstrate substantial experience within Speech and Language Therapy practice together with the ability to work strategically, build partnerships and contribute to the development of high-quality educational provision. Experience of curriculum development, programme validation, practice learning, quality assurance, research, scholarship or leadership within healthcare or higher education would be particularly advantageous.

Applicants must hold a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and current HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist. Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is required, together with a commitment to maintaining professional registration and continuing professional development. Applicants should also hold a recognised teaching qualification, HEA Fellowship, or be able to demonstrate substantial experience of higher education teaching and learning.
