Permanent / Full Time – Hours: 37 hours per week (primarily Wednesday–Sunday). Salary: £31,000 per annum. Location: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (primarily).
We’re looking for a hands‑on Chef to support and lead the delivery of our visitor‑facing Food & Beverage offer at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, and support our other sites.
You’ll oversee day‑to‑day kitchen operations, prepare and serve high‑quality food, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure excellent standards of food safety, hygiene and customer satisfaction. You’ll support the F&B Manager to deliver a profitable, efficient service, working within budgets and meeting gross profit targets.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and serving food to high standards호
- Supervising and training kitchen staff and agency support
- Ensuring allergen information related to the menu is kept up‑to‑date
- Supporting stock control, ordering and kitchen administration
- Using EPOS systems and maintaining smooth service
- Contributing to menu development and improving service
- Responsible for due diligence procedures set out in Alert 65
This is a permanent role working Wednesday to Sunday.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a similar environment
- Proven ability to prepare, cook and serve food to a high standard
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen management
- Experience of supervising or supporting teams
- Ability to work within budgets
- A passion for delivering excellent visitor experience
