We are looking for a Deputy Manager (Mental Health) to assist in the day-to-day management of Birmingham Mind’s Recovery Navigator team and work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust to support people who are experiencing mental health difficulties who are transferring from hospital to living back in the community in their own accommodation within the Birmingham area and require a period of intensive rehabilitation. You will support these individuals with a person-centred recovery approach which focuses on developing, maintaining, and strengthening their skills, abilities, and personal resilience.

The role of the Deputy Manager (Mental Health) will work as part of an integrated community intensive rehabilitation team which includes medical psychology and occupational therapy team members. You will be responsible, alongside the management team, for ensuring that good practice is maintained and promoted. You will assist with the supervision and personal development of staff but also be a core member of the team and an ambassador for Birmingham Mind providing a value-based service to all stakeholders collaboratively.

The Deputy Manager (Mental Health) main duties will include:

  • Participating in service users' plans
  • Supporting the service user in assessment of their skills
  • Playing an active role in the implementation of person-centred plans
  • Supporting individuals in achieving successful outcomes
  • Providing the appropriate support to resolve conflict situations
  • Participating in reviews in partnership with the service user where appropriate

We are looking for someone who has at least 2 years of experience working in a Mental Health field, with experience of supporting people to be in control of their lives, and a good working knowledge of safeguarding legislation. You will have the confidence to work within a multi-disciplinary team setting, be able to demonstrate knowledge or working experience of intensive rehabilitation, and demonstrate personable skills which align with our vision and values.

Ideally, we would like someone with QCF / NVQ Level 5 or with the willingness to work towards Birmingham Mind leadership training. A driving licence with the use of your own vehicle would be desirable for this role but is not essential.
