The Facilities team plays a crucial role in ensuring Birmingham Hippodrome is a safe place to visit and work, maintaining the building to the highest standards with a proactive approach to maintenance. The Facilities Electrical Operative will lead on electrical trade and undertake scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring they are carried out to the highest standards within agreed timescales.

This role is permanent and will cover 40 hours per week, split into 5 shifts of 8 hours. Shifts are allocated in advance on a rota basis and shared across the Facilities team. Most shifts are Monday-Friday, but there will be occasional requirements to work on evenings and weekends.

Job Duties:

  • Lead on electrical trade works and remedials as required, ensuring relevant documentation is recorded.
  • Responsible for carrying out scheduled PPM duties, ensuring routine checks and maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard and agreed timescales.
  • Respond to maintenance/repair requests submitted to the Facilities Helpdesk within agreed timescales, maintaining accurate system records.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance across site in line with qualifications and competences.
  • Assist with portable appliance testing and emergency lighting functional tests in line with statutory requirements.
  • Complete decorating maintenance tasks and ensure maintenance stock is regularly checked.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is always maintained.
  • Complete condition surveys with recommendations recorded for future works as required.

Systems:

  • Operate tablet computer system for job allocation, record keeping and completion.
  • Assist with completing monthly meter readings and energy data recording.

Administration:

  • Comply with all statutory and Hippodrome requirements in areas of compliance such as safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety.
  • Ensure contractor management procedures are followed in line with relevant policies.
  • Assist with contractor inductions and monitor contractors in line with Hippodrome policy and procedures.

We're looking for someone with a Level 3 Qualification in electrical installation or equivalent qualification, with strong hands-on experience of electrical installation and maintenance. You’ll also need good general skills in building maintenance, painting, woodworking, and lamp replacement. You’ll have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills, including using Office 365, and you’ll be a self-motivated team player with a positive outlook.
